Toro swing

Columpio Asesino is one of the bands that has remained in my musical liking and has evolved with it. I think I know them since 2004 but the band was formed in Spain since the 90´s. I admire and recommend them because they can do it wonderfully switching from extreme opposite styles.

Listen to Toro and Lehiotik. The first one is the newest and it is written in a ¨ready to party¨ mood; on the other hand Lehiotik is one of the oldest songs and the most melancholic they´ve created.

Rapping women´s day

Last Tuesday was the International Women's Day. I love being a woman... It´s like my dad says¨Having a son is wonderful, but having a daughter is unequalable¨

I have the fortune to know wonderful women: dancers, designers, teachers, mom, artists...

This year I want to dedicate this post to girls that mix rap and hip hop with flamenco.

an Island

Last firday I went to "El Bunker" at Hotel Condesa DF to the screening of " An Island" a film by Vincente Moon featuring Efterklang.

Gorgeous photography + lovely music performance = ♥

It´s also an interesting project because Anyone can host a Private-Public Screening and the rules are very simple. The screening needs to be public and have a minimum capacity of 5 people and free entrance. Private-Public Screenings can take place in people's homes, at cafés, in libraries – actually anywhere – and they will run from February 1st to March 31st 2011

This was my favorite song

for the valentine´s. . . for the record

Love cannot accept what it is.

Everywhere on earth it cries out against
kindness ,
compassion,
intelligence,
everything that leads to compromise

. Love demands the impossible,

the absolute, the sky on fire, inexhaustible springtime, life after death, and

death itself transfigured into eternal life

A. Camus

This is one of my favorite love stories

Amadou Bagayoko and Mariam Doumbia both grew up in Mali, then under colonial rule and known as the French Sudan, prior to its independence in 1959. While Mariam grew up in the capital Bamako, Amadou was raised 500 miles away, in the region of Mopti.

By the age of six Mariam had gone blind, a disadvantage that did not prevent her from becoming famous in her community as a singer at weddings and other traditional ceremonies. Amadou also lost his eyesight in childhood but was fascinated by music, first playing percussion and then taking up the guitar. They met in 1977 while attending the Institute for Young Blind in Bamako (where to this day they play an annual benefit concert).

Influenced by the records of Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd as well as traditional African music, Amadou attended blind school by day but by night played guitar in the Ambassadeurs du Motel de Bamako, one of West Africa’s most legendary bands. He also began working in the institute's own band with Mariam, who cites her influences as including James Brown, Eric Clapton and Pink Floyd alongside the great traditional female djelis of Malian song.

Defying the advice of the school authorities who felt their union could never work, they became a couple, both romantically and musically. . .

my feet saved my life twice ...

Yesterday I was having a conversation with a doctor friend and we were calculating the exact age in which I may die. To conclude fast I told him that I really wouldn´t mind to die the next day, I had had enough fun and I was also pleased about my achievements at this moment. Today at 6:35 in the morning I almost had a terrible accident in wich I almost collide with a trailer. I don´t remember using (not even in flamenco) and putting my feet so badly in the brake in order to make my little honda fit stop before crashing. I must say that Honda Fit has very reliable brake engineering system.

Hours later I went to my aerial acrobatics session and I tried different falls both in fabric and trapeze and discovered that dropping down dead there or not depended only on the strength of my instep.

Last friday I took up again the aerial acrobatics. My body still hurts.

~ I´m so high that I´ve lost my mind ~

Fourty days and I miss you
I'm so high that I've lost my mind
It's the summer I'm thinking of
Fourty days and I'm blown away

If I saw something new
I guess I wouldn't worry
If I saw something new
I guess I wouldn't care

You said you're always sleeping
But if so, I'll be leaving
It's just that I'm always falling
And it makes me feel bad, yeah

If I saw something new
I guess I wouldn't worry
If I saw something new
I guess I wouldn't care

Just to try and watch you
Said I love the way that you smile, don't
Makes me try and watch you
I said I love the way that you smile, don't
Smile whenever I watch you
I said I love the way that you smile, don't
Smile whenever I watch you
I said I love the way that you smile, don't

are you gay??

Last weekend I met a lovely-teeth-beautiful-muscles-little-cow-young-australian-guy who is traveling in the country.

The first thing I asked him was: Are you gay? and I kept on asking because he was obsessed with going to Zona Rosa (a gay neighborhood) and also with singing Stevie Wonder in the Karaoke at the party where I met him.

The next morning he looked for this clip in youtube and I actually did like it.

when the soundtrack exceeds the movie.

Almost by accident, I ended up watching the film ¨The Next 3 Days¨
I really won´t say anything about the movie because I´ve seen lots and lots and lots of better films. However is important to bring out the words of a friend of mine: "Los 3 últimos días" o venga usted a ver a Russell Crowe envejecer y echar panza mientras huye de la policía. Yet again." (vía @DulceAfrodita ...follow her¡¡)

the tragic outcome of the adventure comes to happen in Venezuela.
I don´t have a picture of Venezuela but I have this one at Santiago de Chile´s airport

The only thing that I consider quite outstanding in the film was the soundtrack. In every track I was wondering: hmm ¿whose voice and composition is that?
The answer was Richard Melville Hall better known as Moby
